DAY 5

Nuwara Eliya to Ella – Ravana Sites

Today is a beautiful transition day where cool hill country scenery slowly changes into Sri Lanka’s sacred southern landscapes. You’ll travel from the misty tea hills around Nuwara Eliya towards Ella, a small mountain town surrounded by waterfalls and dramatic views. After enjoying the highlights around Ella, you continue towards Katharagama, one of Sri Lanka’s most spiritually important pilgrimage towns, respected by Hindu, Buddhist and local communities alike. By evening, you’ll feel the energy of this sacred place and settle in for a peaceful overnight stay.

Katharagama → Colombo (via Galle optional)

After the sacred energy of Katharagama, today is a smoother travel day as you move back towards Sri Lanka’s commercial capital. You’ll leave the southern plains behind and travel along the coast, with chances to stretch your legs and enjoy sea views on the way. If you choose the scenic route, you can pass through the beautiful fort city of Galle, which offers a relaxed walk, ocean breeze and colonial charm before continuing to Colombo for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out and depart from Katharagama

Option A (Scenic Route): Drive to Colombo via Galle.

Stop at Galle Fort for a relaxed walk and photos (time permitting)
